Ask what to do has been set, although when I turn the printer on, I am not asked. Also, when I power the printer on, it does show up in tool bar where I can connect or disconnect.

Assuming your using VMware Fusion, since you posted in this forum, you could have clicked the Customize Settings button the Finish pane of the New Virtual Machine Assistant to make appropriate changes...
