Your virtual optical drive is emulated, and should be listed as a "VMware Virtual CD-ROM drive."  Your physical optical drive is not directly accessible by the guest operating system.

That "NEC" drive is probably the virtual drive. Google say the BE14NU40 is a USB drive - you can try forwarding it to the VM through the "Connect USB device" option.

The image below shows the Host/Guest CD/DVD Info and the Guest sees it the same as the Host.  So are you saying that in spite of the fact the Guest sees the physical CD/DVD that it is still emulated?...

If you don't use it as previously suggested as a USB device then you may have to manually edit the target Virtual Machine's .vmx configuration file. Look for an option in the .vmx configuration file...
