If you still have a Flag in Device Manager with USB then you're going to need to correct it before the printer is going to work! At this point I do not see this as a VMware Fusion issue per se and is really a Windows USB issue and as such you should probably turn to Microsoft and Microsoft resources to fix a Windows USB issue. You could however first try uninstalling/reinstalling, not a repair install, VMware Tools and then if that doesn't fix it then Microsoft.
