You should always suspend the virtual machine from Fusion prior to suspending the machine.  Relying on OSX to suspend the VM is not recommended.

It's a prudent suggestion, but given that this worked properly in Fusion 4, I see this as a bug in Fusion 5. I should not have to wait the 45 seconds to suspend my VM and another 45 seconds to resume...

HiI had my IT support try Brian's above tempt solution. So far the flicker issue is gone. The flickering really made fusion un-usable. Hopefully we get an update for full fix soon. CheersDan

Ron, formally, HW version 9 only support 8G maximum memory. HW version 10 on Fusion 6.0 will support 64 GB memory. as of now, you might download Fusion 6.0 TP1 fromVMware Fusion Technology Preview 2013...
