I run vmware fusion 5.0.3 on an iMac with Mountain Lion. The virtual OS is windows 7 professional
I have an external Hard Disk (Toshiba 2,5" - 1TB, USB 3.0), formatted with the extended FAT (in order to be used both by win and OSX) which is connected to Mac and shared with the virtual machine. For this reason, it appears under "Shared folders (\\vmware-host)".
For reasons I still can't understand, I am not able to write (create new) files or folders on this disk from virtual windows 7. Sometimes, I am even not allowed to copy files/folders to it. I have checked fusion sharing settings and for this disk they are "read/write".
This problem is a consequence of another problem: I can't connect this disk directly to the virtual machine (I don't even get an error message: simply nothing happens)
I am very disappointed by these malfunctions of vmware fusion, which in its previous versions was surely a better software than it is now.
In any case, I would like to know if someone experiences these same issues and has found a solution.
thank you
