While technically it can be done nonetheless it's not as easy to do with the type virtual hard disk you have monolithicSparse as it is with a twoGbMaxExtentSparse type virtual hard disk.  With the later the Disk DescriptorFile is separate from the binary Extents however with the former it's embedded in the binary Extent.  With the twoGbMaxExtentSparse type the Disk DescriptorFile can be opened in a Text Editor and changes made however with monolithicSparse the Disk DescriptorFile has to be extracted, modified and injected back.

 

That said, SCSI disks perform better then IDE so that's something to keep in mind.

 

Message was edited by: WoodyZ - I forgot to add that you'd also have to deal with rectifying the Mass Storage Controller driver and this may require manually injecting the driver and the Windows Registry Entries for the Mass Storage Controller.  This can be done using the KRD.
