If all is properly configured and does not work, which it usually doesn't except for OSes that natively support USB 3 (and Windows 7 doesn't), then the known workaround is to plug the USB 3.0 Device into a external USB 2.0 Hub attached to the Host first. Then connect it to the Virtual Machine.
