Crash: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic

I am a new user of Fusion.  Purchased Fusion 5.0 yesterday, thinking that I could run some old games.  First one I tried doesn't work; here are the details:

Game: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2

Host OS: Mountain Lion

MacBook Pro (late 2012)

Guest OS: Windows XP (Pro) SP2

Processors: 4

Memory Allocation: 5024 MB

3D acceleration: On (have tried with and without full resolution for retina display).

This is a virtual machine on my Mac (I do not have Boot Camp, as it is not supported by Mountain Lion).

I have tried various settings of the above, like 2 processors, lower values of memory.

The game installs fine. I can start it.  The graphics at the beginning look funny and when you go to set-up a character, a lot of the text does not show.  Once you create your character and try to play, you get a black screen and the game crashes.

What do I do?
