With the exception of the express purpose of having a backup of the Virtual Machine Package otherwise your reply is not applicable as a solution to the OP's issue much less the fact that VMware Fusion does not have a clone command and even if it did it wouldn't resolve the present issue! 
We need to see the information in the support bundle (already mentioned by André) in order to provide a solution that would actually be based on the current facts of the situation!
