Increase RAM for Fusion on OS X?

I am running VMWare Fusion Professional 5.0.1 on a Mac Mini OS X 10.6.8 with 4 GB of RAM.  Fusion is using 512 MB of RAM.  However, I have just upgraded Quicken to the 2013 version, and that requires 1 GB of RAM.  When I reset Fusion Preferences to 1026 MB of RAM and open Fusion, I get the error message: "Memory hot add is not enabled.  Could not initiate memory hot plug."  The memory setting has then reverted to 512 RAM.

How can I incease the Fusion memory to 1 GB in order to run this new program?  I have seen some posts which seem to be indicating a solution involving reprogramming, but I admit I am not advanced enought to understand the directions.  Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.

Many thanks for any help.

John
