I've not seen my magic trackpad do that.
However, there are times when I've been typing into a Windows 8 Ent x64 virtual mahcine and I get about 4-8 chracters typed in over and over.
I believe it's the VM hanging up doing who knows what in my case.
In two weeks, it maybe happens 2-3 times. Always in Outlook 2013.
