MacOS 10.6.8 + VMWare Fusion 2.0.8 + ATi X1900 = 3D acceleration issues

Hello guys,

So I've been wandering the whole internet for hours now but I can't find any answers for my problem.

At work I run a MacPro 10.6.8 with an ATI X1900 and we need to run a 3D randering software to modelize buildings (DesignBuilder, energy building performance), which only works under Windows.

To do so, we use Windows XP SP3 + VMWare fusion 2.0.8.

I installed the VMWare tools, when the desktop pops, Catalyst Control Center warns me the drivers are not compatible and I need to upgrade them. Though 3D acceleration doesn't work and in DesignBuilder 3D view is extremely slow.

I found on the internet that since MacOS 10.5.7, ati drivers were broken and incompatible with vmware. Then found that since 10.5.8 it was intended to work again... but I run 10.6.8 and it doesn't...

I dled and installed VMWare fusion 5 trial but it didn't work either...

Can this problem be solved in any way? If yes what to do?

Thanks for your time,

Best regards
