Not sure if I got that right what you want to tell me but the fact that vmware admits to have that feature in the pipeline says that there is something missing? Just have a look at your colleagues using parallels and you'll see what I mean.
So what you suggest is setting:
- Resolution on host to 1680x1050 = scaled setting
- Untick "Use full resolution for Retina display" for VM
And then I should set the VM to what resolution?
And then I should get the same quality as native retina?
