I had this problem. For AGES.

Fixed by:

1. Locking resolution to 1280x1024
2. Edit -> Preferences -> Display. For full screen mode, select "center guest (no resolution change)"
3. Uncheck all "autofit window" and "autofit guest"

Issue no longer occuring

Btw I'm on latest workstation on windows, but since symptoms seem similar, hopefully same fix works for you on fusion.
