Rebooted Mac again on SSD and booted guest OS with 2 CPU assigned. This time Windows 2003 pop up a message that drivers where installed for new hardware (I guess for the 2nd CPU), press OK to restart. After reboot, it's OK. Strange. I'll switch this back to 1 CPU next time and see what happens, it could be VMware Tools since I have other guest OS (Fedora, CentOS) that does not behave this way, but I don't have VMware Tools installed on those. My Mac is at 10.6.8.
