Fn alt F-3 (not 4) worked!
I actually ment F3 and F4 was a typo. 
Anyway the more important aspect is to use the fn key when the normal key-combo doesn't work. Part of this has to do with how one either leaves the default settings for the Keyboard in System Preferences, specifically checking/unchecking the Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys.
