I have rebooted, shut down, booted and rebooted and all the times it boots OK into the VM Desltop as expected.

OK, back to topic, how can I do to start up in single-user or verbose mode INSIDE a virtual machine? I mean, I tried the prevous commands, yet got stuck on the command-line console as explained before. I am completely lost now.
