Re: Help! "The file specified is not a virtual disk"

Needless to say, the affected user here is devistated. I told him I would see what else I could try. I have also run a software program called Data Rescure 3 on his time machine backup, which had been deleted hoping that it would be able to restore some of the lost Windows files (is there a better program for this when dealing with a deleted Fusion VM?). It looks like it has found a lot of his files, but as I'm sure you know, there is not a lot of structure to the recovered files and everything has been renamed with a generic numbering system.

In helping him today, I came across his previous Mac laptop, which he was using until about four months ago. That Mac still has his profile, including the VM that was later moved over to his new computer. I have copied off the 80GB VM file from the old laptop, but I don't know if this could help salvage the now corrupted file. I noticed that the VDMK file before was named Windows 7.VDMK, where it reads Virtual Disk.VDMK now. Would this old VM pacakge be of any use in this situation? If you don't mind, I was hoping you could at least tell me if this old file might be of some use here.

Thanks again for your time and help.
