I meet the same problem .
my Env , mac pro mac ox 10.8.2 Fusion 5.0.1 to tranfer win7 P to V
I use vCenter Convert 5.0.1 to generate a dir suit for Fusion 4.x ,then copy to the mac pro use Fusion to open the file , and It really work.
