Re: Will I be able to migrate my BootCamp partition as virtual disk to run elsewhere?

1 - In the event I need more disk space in the Windows 8 partition, and  I'm running the BootCamp in Fusion, can I supplement by adding an  additional hard disk in the VM settings?

No, running Boot camp based Virtual machines cannot be resized using VM settings. Fusion just gives you an option to run Windows already installed on Boot camp.  The existing size can however be changed using disk utilities on mac.

Adding an additional hard disk in VM settings should theoretically work. By doing so, you will have 2 local hard drives in Windows environment. Such a setup may raise complications when Boot camp is run natively. The data stored in secondary drive may not be accessible when looged into windows natively.

I would however recommend you to extend the existing partition of Boot camp using the disk utility on osx side itself.

----------------

- Will Fusion allow the Windows bootcamp partition to be portable, that  is can I conver to virtual disk and copy it to another machine like a  PC and load it up in another VMWare instance  like VMWare Player?

Yes, you can import the Boot Camp ( option available in Fusion itself ) windows any time and use the imported Boot camp based VM as a regualar Fusion VM which is portable. Such VMs can be run on any PCs or computers. ( Of course you must be ready to activate Windows on each systems depending on the application used to run the VMs - Fusion, workstation, player etc )
