Windows XP suddenly demands non-existent password

As of the past  week, when I try to open Windows XP in Fusion 3, it asks for a password.  Since I have never had one, I am only able to get into my Windows functions by resorting to a snapshot, which takes me back a day  or more to a version that only asks me to click on the user name.  But that means losing more recent files and corrections.  Can anyone please help me to make Windoze stop doing that?  I can't recall doing anything at all to bring this on.  I've been using Fusion for two or three years on my laptop and this has never happened on that.  I bought a Mac Mini as a desktop in order to have Macs for both desk and lap.  But this demand for a password has created a major nuisance.  I have to re-update my Quicken accounts every time I revert to a snapshot.  Please HELP!

I'm preparing to update to Lion or Mountain Lion and Fusion 5 on both Macs, but don't want to further complicate things by doing so before I get this problem resolved.
