I did some more testing and here is what I found:
- Virtual Terminal WORKS in Fedora 17 with 3D Graphics disabled
- With 3D Graphics enabled, desktop renders fine, but Virtual Terminal does not
- Virtual Terminal WORKS in Fedora 18 TC4 with 3D Graphics disabled
- Both Virtual Terminal and GUI do not work when this is enabled
In addition, Fedora 18 only installs correctly as VM Guest when using vanilla install. Using a Yum Distro-Sync to F18 causes a crash in the GUI even with 3D acceleration diabled (although Vrtual Terminal does work). I have not retested with LiveCD image and acceleration disabled.
Considering this works fine in REL 6.3 and CentOS 6.3, acceleration enabled, this may be an issue with the upstream provider's driver. Maybe the VMware supplied driver to X.org is not quite ready for F17 and F18.
Would love to open a bug on this, but I dont have support for Fusion.
