Fusion shared vm frustration

Hello all,

I don't know why... but all of a sudden my shared VM on my workstation is causing the Fusion UI to beachball.

The VM itself is running fine.  I see the guest vmx process...  I can remote desktop to the guest... all is good there.  I can use vmrun to control the VM also.

It is only the UI that is getting 'stuck'.  I start the Fuision UI and I can see the guest desktop... but I can't provide any input to the VM.  The most I can do is to force quit the UI.

My account is that of a user.   If I run the fusion UI as an admin... all is fine.

Seems to me like a permissions issue with the pipe which the vmx process and the UI talk.  But I can't for the life of me find it.

I tried fixing permissions with apple's Disk Utility, but that didn't help at all.

Thoughts anyone??

Addendum:  It seems that the probelm start once windows starts up...  Wondering if it is the USB arbitration service...

Addendum 2:  It works Ok when I uninstall vmware tools from the guest...  Err...

Addendum 3:   This would be helpful:  VMware 5.0.2 on OS 10.8.2
