Windows 7 Bootcamp Partition won't Startup

I downloaded a trial of VMWare Fusion.  I'm having it boot my Windows 7 bootcamp partition.  When it boots the "Starting Windows" screen appears as normal.  But it never reaches the logon screen.  I heard the normal sound that plays when you get to the logon screen.  But it just hangs on the "Starting Windows" screen.  If I boot into safe mode it works fine.  I tried uninstalling VMWare Fusion and reinstalling.  When I pointed at the bootcamp partition again I get this error: "vmware fusion boot camp partition preprocessing failed".  Does anyone know how to resolve this?  Thanks.
