Ok, found the problem... during the Centos installation, I clicked on the "Configure Network" button and found that all the settings were correct (ipv4 enabled for DHCP, ipv6 set to ignore) except that the "Start automatically" checkbox was empty!
Put a tick on that box, proceeded with the rest of the installation, and everything is working fine.
